Community | Connect

by Charmaine McIntosh | on May 16, 2020

We are all experiencing Covid-19 and Social Distancing together. Connections is an important key to mental health and wellness.

We are not immune to loneliness. Encourage yourself and others to connect.

Call a family member or friend, instead of texting.
Join a video call instead of watching television or playing a video game.

Make connections and build your community.

Social Interest in Challenging Times

by Charmaine McIntosh | on May 09, 2020

It is a very challenging time right now for everyone, especially with staying at home, which can impact our mental health.  So, find ways to CONNECT with family and friends, create a sense of BELONGING and ENCOURAGE each other.  Remember to manage any stress and anxiety (i.e. breathing exercises, mindfulness meditation), engage in leisure activities (i.e. go for a walk, do a craft), and practice wellness (i.e. healthy eating, sleeping, exercise).  Try not to be discouraged, find meaning in daily life, limit how much time you spend watching the news about COVID-19 and be hopeful ... we will get through this - remember our Canadian motto right now StrongerTogether.  Stay Safe Everyone.

Mother's Day 2020

by Charmane McIntosh | on May 09, 2020

Mother's Day is almost here! Some individuals may not be able to spend time with their mother, physically; so, think about ways that you can be with her.  Some ideas I found online to celebrate include the following: a Skype or Zoom meal with your mother, get a nice meal delivered to her, have lunch with a neighbour in your backyards (separated by your fence), sing outside her house, have a meal with her from outside your mother's house.  Find creative ways to celebrate Mother's Day this year.
