Sleep Health

A good night’s sleep is important; but, many people suffer from a  poor sleep pattern.  In adults, some of the factors or causes are related to sleep difficulties are arthritis, chronic stress, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, physical pain, poor mental health, sedentary time, and substance abuse.  A poor sleep pattern can impact decision making, focusing and concentration, tiredness for children and adolescents at school, people falling asleep while driving, etc.  Suggestion on how to address sleep problems include regular exercise and sleep-wake schedule, avoid alcohol, caffeine and nicotine prior to bed, practice deep breathing, relaxation and mindfulness meditation.  Try and make sleep part of your healthy lifestyle.
